A sincere thank you to Parks Canada for selecting me to be a part of the 2024 Point Pelee Artist in Residence program. It was a fantastic experience, and allowed me to explore the park with what felt like staff-level privilege and access. Canada’s second smallest National Park is a lush, jungle-like triangle, sealed by kilometers of beaches on two sides.

The following images are the first nine sketches from my visit in June, 2024. Using both acrylic pen and thin layers of acrylic gouache, I tried to keep the work small, fast and fairly loose. These works are now available and on display at Crown & Press Gallery in Hamilton, Ontario. You can find them here.
Here is the first full size (24”x 36”) painting from Point Pelee National Park. This is an area known as ‘Sanctuary’ and truly features some stunning displays of light, cloud and visible walls of rain. It was recommended I visit here at sunset and I am so happy that I did. This painting is for sale directly through me, but it will be on display in the Visitor’s Center at Point Pelee National Park, courtesy of Parks Canada. The showing begins October 8th and runs through December.

Commission work can be the lifeblood of any working, full-time painter. It’s a fully customizable experience that is only shared between client and artist. As a result of this direct approach, significant savings (particularly on larger work), can be passed on to the client while also enjoying a higher level of involvement in the entire process. Some examples of commission work can be:
a photograph of a family cottage/property/landscape
an image from a favorite vacation spot, cityscape or national park
an image saved from a photo-mode inside PC or console gaming applications
