DVSA (Dundas Valley School of Art) will be hosting their 54th Annual Art Auction March 31-April 6 2025. Here is my offering for the event, titled ‘Autumn willow’. I’m truly grateful that for the 3rd year in a row, my work has been chosen to be featured in the live-auction portion of the event. Thank-you. See below for all the details…
‘Autumn willow’
Brand-new, 36” x 36”, acrylic/acrylic pen on birch panel. It is finished with a black metal, gallery depth float frame. I’m really quite happy with the way it turned out. It seems to be getting closer to a style that I’m both working through and towards. The original painting is brighter than the image I have supplied here. Though the piece is at the school and will be professionally photographed for event purposes, I will try to obtain a better image between now and then.
TIMED AUCTION BIDDING- opens online at dvsa.ca on Monday, March 31 with lots closing April 5 & 6
IN-PERSON VIEWING- at DVSA runs April 2-5. See dvsa.ca for times
LIVE AUCTION NIGHT- returns Friday, April 4. Auction at 8pm featuring selected artworks. Tickets available at dvsa.ca Out of 1400+ submissions, I suspect 54 will be chosen for the live auction night. This is the evening that ‘Autumn willow’ will be available. There will be an estimated 300+ bidders in the room.
The following images are the first nine sketches from my visit in June, 2024. Using both acrylic pen and thin layers of acrylic gouache, I tried to keep the work small, fast and fairly loose. These works are now available and on display at Crown & Press Gallery in Hamilton, Ontario. You can find them here.
This is an area known as ‘Sanctuary’ and truly features some stunning displays of light, cloud and visible walls of rain. It was recommended I visit here at sunset and I am so happy that I did. The painting was on display in the Visitor’s Center at Point Pelee National Park, courtesy of Parks Canada. The show ran October 8th through December 30, 2024.

Commission work can be the lifeblood of any working, full-time painter. It’s a fully customizable experience that is only shared between client and artist. As a result of this direct approach, significant savings (particularly on larger work), can be passed on to the client while also enjoying a higher level of involvement in the entire process. Some examples of commission work can be:
a photograph of a family cottage/property/landscape
an image from a favorite vacation spot, cityscape or national park
an image saved from a photo-mode inside PC or console gaming applications

Thank-you for spending your time looking at my work.
